“Therefore it remains for us, as a community, to cherish this
orphan of destiny as a pledge of love sent to us by a wise Provi-
dence, and not to be given up without full proof of the superior
authority of other guardians. It is also our duty to use every
means in our power to discover and bring to justice the miscreants
who have committed this crime against a human soul, in order
that the truth may be brought to light and the victim of such
~ruel injustice may be restored to his lost rights.
«“ T therefore request all judicial, military, and civil authorities,
and all humane persons in private life, to report instantly to the
police any facts, traces, or well-grounded suspicions which may
assist the committee entrusted with this matter in prosecuting
“heir researches.
“Tt is scarcely necessary to mention that the chief object of
search is a child of from two to four years of age, who has been
missing for from fourteen to eighteen years, and concerning whose
disappearance important rumours have probably been circulated.
Every communication—every hint—will be thankfully received ;
all services will be accepted in strict confidence, and, according to
sircumstances, abundantly rewarded. Anonymous reports will
not be noticed. Mavor BINDER.

‘hat the difficulty they had supposed to be solved forever had
arisen in a more dangerous form than before, and now threatened
‘hem daily with discovery and consequent ruin.
A few days after the issue of the above notice (July 11, 1828),
